Duane Olberding
Executive Director
This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Mr. Olberding’s personal experience with addiction and recovery has created a passion for working in the treatment field. After researching treatment models currently in use, he recognized that new and more effective treatment models were needed.

Throughout his career, his clients have educated him on the role anxiety plays in the development of chemical and/or behavioral addictions. Utilizing what he learned from his clients and incorporating current research, he has developed a new framework and unifying theory for treating all addictions called The Serenity Model of Recovery. Serenity is defined as the lessening of anxiety. It utilizes psychological, biological, social, and spiritual tools to move into a recovery process that leads to serenity.

Mr. Olberding not only provides treatment services to clients, he also provides clinical supervision and skills training to his talented staff at Professional Treatment Services. He also presents education to other treatment centers and professional organizations with a goal of sharing The Serenity Model and thereby improving treatment outcomes everywhere.

Mr. Olberding earned his Master of Clinical Social Work Degree from Washburn University. While in graduate school he completed his internship and training at the Menninger Clinic, formerly located in Topeka, Kansas and the Recovery Center at St. Francis Health Center in Topeka, Kansas.

Mr. Olberding served on the Kansas Citizen’s Committee of the SRS (a legislated policy making group of Addiction and Prevention Services), is past President of the Kansas Coalition on Problem Gambling, past Executive Board Member of the Kansas Association of Addiction Professionals, and a past adjunct professor at Washburn University. He currently serves on the Committee on Impaired Pharmacy Practice and Problem Gambling Taskforce in NE Kansas.
